An elegant fashion show and luncheon took place yesterday at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and it was all for a great cause – to improve the lives of cancer patients.

Magnificent Steinway music warmed the hearts of all who attended as they observed the newest Fall and Winter fashions from Vancouver’s boutique retailers, Bacci’s and Boboli. The collections included popular brands such as Lanvin, Céline, Chloé, Etro, Valentino, and Stella McCartney.

Approximately 55% of cancer patients receive radiation therapy as part of their treatment. Success relies on experts’ ability to identify the location of the tumour, calculate a precise dose of radiation and deliver it while avoiding damage to surrounding tissue. It’s an extremely difficult procedure and the margin for error is high.

The funds raised at the Hope Couture Fashion show will go towards the acquisition of Canada’s first VERO machine. The world-class VERO radiotherapy delivery system will dynamically change the status quo for radiation therapy, ultimately improving the lives of British Columbians affected by hard-to-treat cancers.
