The Premium Low Eb Bass Clarinet has many of the same features as professional models, but the ABS brushed resin body keeps this horn very affordable. Proven quality and durability keeps Yamaha bass clarinets a top choice among band directors.

The matte finish gives the clarinet a handsome appearance, while the ABS resin body makes the clarinet lightweight and durable. At the same time, it resonates nicely and gives it a rich, warm sound and an excellent response. Its neck angle is now the same as the professional models, resulting in a much more comfortable and natural playing position.

The leather pads (also used on its saxophones) are long lasting and provide a better feel than standard clarinet pads. The YCL-221's tone holes were scientifically designed and placed for extremely accurate intonation. The rounded key prevents key damage and eliminates the need to hold the keys when putting the instrument together. Finally, a new joint system features rubber rings surrounding the cork that help prevent air leaks, ease assembly and prevent keys from binding.
