Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1743) was one of the most influential flutists and composers of the 18th century, admired for his prolific output and deep understanding of the flute as both performer and instrument maker. As flute teacher and court composer to Frederick the Great of Prussia, he composed over 300 concertos, 200 sonatas, and numerous other works for the instrument.
