Stereo Morphing Granular Sampler Eurorack Module (20 HP)

Layer sounds and sequences with the intellijel Multigrain, an eight-channel stereo morphing granular sampler Eurorack module. Load sounds from the included microSD library or record directly on the module and manipulate them using the powerful granular synthesis engine. Each of the eight sound buttons plays grains generated from its own sample and its own pair of Scenes, which are two completely different sets of granular parameters that can be mixed/blended thanks to the dedicated Morphing Fader. You can also utilize CV to smoothly morph between these two Scenes.

There are 48 projects, each with 48 presets, allow you to save, load, and organize different sets of samples and settings. There is 48 kHz 24-bit stereo I/O and 32-bit floating-point internal processing for hi-fi output. The dedicated Select, Next, and Gate CV inputs allow you to sequence the playback of all eight sounds. Assignable X/Y/Z CV and internal random S&H generator can be applied to any and all granular parameters at once. Assignable MOD A/B outputs let you modulate other modules in time with Multigrain. A 32GB microSD card, ribbon power cable, and mounting screws are included.

Part of a Nutritious Microsound Diet

Multigrain is a stereo morphing granular sampler with instant access to up to eight different audio samples (sounds) . These sounds are played back through a granular engine with morphable scenes and a reverb effect called Blur.

Granular sampling or synthesis creates small slices of audio—or grains—from a larger piece of audio. In Multigrain, streams of grains can be shaped, layered, pitched, filtered, and reversed to generate entirely new sounds.

The eight available sounds use stereo WAV files, up to 32 seconds long, to generate grains. These are loaded from the microSD card, where you can store thousands of files recorded from the inputs or resampled from the outputs.

Automation / Modulation

The granular engine has a full set of controls to shape your grains. You can apply two panel settings per sound—scenes A and B—then morph between them using the Morph fader, or automate it with the dedicated morph CV/attenuverter.

Multigrain loves modulation. It has three assignable CV inputs, which can be applied to the granular engine’s parameters. You can also apply internally generated random modulation and sync Multigrain to your system clock.

Dedicated Next, Gate, Select CV inputs allow you to sequence or surf through sounds, layering and mixing them on top of each other.

Multigrain supports up to 48 projects, each with 48 presets, so you can store multiple configurations and sample sets for instant recall. This frees you up to explore new sound palettes, while still being able to return to your favorites.
