THE 30TH ANNUAL MONEY MART EASTER SEALS 24 HOUR RELAY FOR THE KIDS WILL BE TAKING PLACE ON JUNE 20-21, 2009! SWANGARD STADIUM, BURNABY BC
Every year, around mid-June in Vancouver the Lions Society of BC for Children with Disabilities hold their fun run, the 24 Hour Relay. The event is a relay race that literally lasts for 24 hours, while teams of approximately 25 take turns running 4 KM laps throughout the duration of the event. The goal for every team is to always have one person running. Proceeds for this event go towards sponsoring BC's Easter Seal camps; summer camps that are meant to facilitate the needs of children with a number of physical and developmental disabilities. All campers get to enjoy the wonders of summer camp for a week, free of cost, thanks to the generous donors and fundraisers who support the 24 hour relay.
This year, in collaboration with a generous sponsorship from Tom Lee Music, VAM (Vancouver Association of Musicians) will be participating in this year's relay with a little twist. In addition to some of the team members running, members of this team will take turns playing piano for 24 hours, non-stop! VAM is comprised of some of Vancouver's leading young professional classical and jazz musicians. They will be playing a variety of styles and genres including, classical, jazz, pop, and rock music.
